On our way to Palm Springs

Palm Springs is a desert resort city within the Coachella Valley and is about 170 kms East of LA. It is 240km squared, making it the largest city in the country by land area. With more golf courses than any other region in California, it is the perfect place for us to end our trip.

We are all back together after spending the night in either Atlanta or Dallas, we have all luggage with us.  The flight checked in on time but was slightly delayed due to a minor mechanical issue which had to be fixed.

I also forgot to tell you about my lovely chat that I had with Angel Cabrerra.  He asked me if I played golf, I said yes and that I had been watching the golf and saw his putt on the 18th, after which he burst out laughing uncontrollably. For those that didn’t see it, Angel hit his approach on 18th to the back of the green and then proceeded to putt it off the green and had to chip it back on.  When he stopped giggling, he said “yes I hit it a bit too hard”.  He likes Australians, I invited him to come and play in Australia.  He was very charming and made my 2 hours at the checkin in desk a little more bearable.  He caused confusion because it took the checkin operator a while to realise that there were two Angel Cabrerras (father and son) before she stopped issuing and reissuing tickets thinking that the system was duplicating the check in.  Ha ha…

Evander Holyfield was on the flight that we were on standby for yesterday, I didn’t see him but I was surprised that Robbo, Rossco or Patto didn’t go and ask him for his two seats he had!!!

Peter was queuing for a stand at the Masters and noticed Rod Laver in front of him and had a good chat with him, he told Rod that he was surprised that he had to queue for the stands just like an ordinary person and Rod replied “this isn’t tennis”.

Sitting in a few rows in front of us on the 18th green was actor Eric Close (I know him as the dad in Nashville), he is in a lot of other TV series and films.  He is just as good looking in real life, and just as smiley – well he was probably as excited as we were.

As I type this we have just taken off and are on our way to sunny Palm Springs.  We haven’t been asked to turn off our phones once on a flight in the US. The planes have WiFi on them so when we reach cruising altitude I will be able to post this ready for those in Australia to read whilst eating their breakfast.

We have just had email confirmation that our golf has been reschedulesd on the Pete dye designed Dunes course, just researched it and here is a picture.  Oooooo la la, we are going to have fun.
