Out of the bus, 15 min turn around and down to the golf club. Loosen the bones and get the kinks out with a good warm up session. The weather was great, but very hot I was very glad it was cart golf.
I had the honour of playing with Patto, he was my cart buddy and my two other buddies were Sally who had an amazing round and Lizzie who hit her stride after a Margherita.
Palm Springs is a development in a desert, arid, rocky where there is no planted grass which makes for a dramatic backdrop and some fantastic views. They do golf very well here, arrive and they take your bags, load them on the carts – you go and register, do some shopping then go downstairs and everything is ready waiting for you.
Here are a few photos from the air as you can see there is not much around and a lot of golf courses.

I was having a good day even par after 9 and then Sally led me astray and we tried the margheritas as recommended by Di. Well that was not the best idea, I went bogey bogey, double bogey, par and it was a very sorry state of affairs. On one par three, I only had an 80m shot with my favourite gap wedge, I concentrated so hard because there was a lot of water about and I am playing with new balls. I hit about 10cm behind the ball and Splish splash my ball was taking a bath. Next one, I get some instruction from Patto, “stay still, get your weight behind the ball”. I concentrated so hard as I really wanted to rescue my score, this time I hit about 5cm behind the ball, bye bye brand new Titliest. Note to self: no alcohol on golf course, especially on hot day.
Sal was the star with 38 points, Kevin07 had 35 points.
Here are some pictures of the course.
The drinks cart with on tap bloody Mary’s and margheritas, I inks Avondale needs one of these!

When getting back to our room it was a quick shower, I was still feeling a little under the weather and getting into the shower was another experience. The plumber who installed this shower was short and had forgotten his ladder because I had to squat to be able to wash my hair. So picture me struggling with balance already, squatting with my eyes closed, it was a tough day.
Then off to the local Mexican for more Margheritas and some hot food with way too much coriander.
A great day.
Photo of shower, and for those of you who don’t know Cathy is 5′ tall.
