Transfer day or dayzzzzz.

We had a lie in today, our bus left the hotel at 9 for a 3 hour drive to Atlanta to Cath a 2pm flight to Dallas, connecting to Palm Springs an hour later. Gets us into Palm Springs in the evening giving us time to settle in and prepare for our 8am tee off.

Sometimes the best laid plans have a few hiccups, but today even the most patient travellers (moi) were tested.  As we arrived in Atlanta Ross got a text notifying us that the flight had been delayed which meant that we would not make our connection.  When I checked Cathy and I in it said that we were booked on a 6am flight tomorrow, I didn’t like that option so I stood in a queue to query it with customer service, Ross and Robbo have platinum status so they were in the priority queue and got seen too quickly and found out that there was a later flight that day that we could check onto.  Quite a number of minutes later we got seen to and managed to get checked onto a flight to Dallas but there was no connection to Palm Springs that night, the earliest connection was at 10am the next morning, but because the plane was delayed due to mechanical reasons AA would pay for our hotels.  That made the bitter pill a little easier to swallow but still not great when we have a tee off time at 8am, but shit happens!

Then, the flight we were booked on got cancelled, luckily this happened whilst I was at the check in desk, so I didn’t have to queue up again.  So Miss Phyllis booked us on the next flight, then I asked her to check the other guys who had already checked in and she issued a boarding pass for Peter and I noticed that we had the same flight numbers and same seat numbers, I queried that and we went from bad to worse.  The bookings that she had just spent the last 20 minutes rescheduling had been cancelled and rebooked on tomorrow morning flights and now when rebooking there were no longer any seats left.  Swear word, worse swear word!!!!!

We then go on standby for the earlier flight, they had Belinda at standby no 21 and Robbo standby No 4, very useful as they couldn’t get confirmed on a flight today.  Seriously it was disaster after disaster and the worst customer service or compassion that I have ever experienced.  I will never ever entrust my flight to American Airlines again, life is way to short to deal with this incompetence!  The final straw was when suddenly the cause of the cancellation went from mechanical to weather which means that the Airline are no longer paying for our flights.  Comical!

So now we have 8 of us in Dallas for the night and 9 in Atlanta for the night, all hoping to catch an AA flight to Palm Springs, fingers crossed.  Hopefully our golf will be able to be rebooked.

Now I am going to re-read my blog from the masters to get myself back on that magical holiday we were on.

  1. So sorry to hear about your delays and frustrations. As I said before just keep referring back to your previous exciting days. Good Luck, I hope it works out ok.
