Day Ten – Poor Jen…..

Jen and Neil had a terrible night, very little sleep with Jen (wait for it) sweating buckets.  Not at all well this morning so no skiing  for Jen and off to the doctor.  Neil is still suffering with a pain in the arse!  He overstretched his Gluteus Maximus – me thinks, so he thinks that it is best that he doesn’t ski.

Sue, not feeling like skiing – is going to relax for the day and read her book.

Sid woke up, saw the forecast and popped his head upstairs and said that he was going to give the skiing a miss today.

So Just John and I for skiing today – off we scoot after a solid brekky ready for a day of hard yakka on the slopes.  As we drove up the mountain the visibility was getting worse and worse, we were willing the clouds to bugger off but after all they do bring the snow.  Once we had parked, we both gave out a big sigh and looked at each other,  very disappointed we looked at the forecast (probably the same one Sid looked at earlier) and it wasn’t looking to good.  When the tandem skydivers packed up and went home – we thought they probably know what they are doing so we came back down the mountain.

Back home we went, on our way down the sun looks like it is trying to peak out.  Decisions, decisions, we continue down and plan to collect Jen and Neil for her visit to the Doctor.  Poor Jen, such a brave little soldier., she is not well at all.  Doc says “no housework for the next year – she needs to take it easy!”

With all of this spare time, I managed to collate a montage of Sid and John’s skiing from this holiday.  John is in the blue Jacket and Sid in the Red Jacket.  No animals were harmed in the making of this video.

After Jen got her drugs and the all clear apart from the “no housework bit”, we were off to Arrowtown for lunch.  Where we went to an old favourite The fork and Tap.  More mulled wine and winter grub – yummy food and a good chin wag with mates was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Then it was off to Millbrook for Coffee and Hot Chocolates and possibly a little browse around the golf shop.

Pretty helpful if you stray right, your ball will bounce out of the hazard onto the green

Frozen hazard – recognise this hole??

Reflections

Luckily in Queenstown if you don’t ski they let you spend your value of your ski pass in certain shops, so we will have to shop up a few days worth of skiing.  Fingers crossed, the weather forecast is good for tomorrow and we will be mountain bound.  I hope and pray that Jen has divine intervention with her illness and is ready to conquer the slopes tomorrow – although from the barking that is going on I think that is doubtful.  I hope that Neil’s glute gets the rest it requires, Sue’s book is finished and Sid gets enough rest and everyone is rearing to go.

Sid has cooked up a Wakatipu Chicken for dinner and it is a lazy night indoors.

  1. No housework for Jen? Hmm- just as well I spent the whole day cleaning the house and doing the washing. No ironing yet. Jackie is now walking with the lead loose. At first she thought she was taking me for a walk!! Love you and love the blog
